Micropen & Micro-Needling
What is Micropen and Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a new treatment in aesthetic medicine for treating fine lines, acne scars, surgical scars, rough skin texture, hyperpigmentation and stretch marks. Micropens can be used on all areas of the face and body to rejuvenate the skin’s overall condition for the appearance of younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. This treatment is safe, efficient, and highly customizable to the client’s treatment needs.
How does the micropen work?
The skin’s healing and repair process is induced by creating micro “injuries” in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis. Our patients can expect a reduction in fine wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture and softer, younger-looking skin. The procedure utilizes a sterilized tip containing twelve medical-grade stainless steel micro-needles that can be adjusted to treat different depths and skin treatment areas with ease while causing less epidermal damage compared to other treatments. It is highly maneuverable so it can safely treat delicate facial contours such as the areas around the eyes, mouth and nose.
Does the micropen hurt?
The rapid pen motion minimizes discomfort and improves the absorption benefits of facial topicals and serums to speed up healing. While some areas of the skin are more sensitive than others, most patients experience minimal discomfort and find the treatment very tolerable.
Is there any downtime after a micropen treatment?
Since the tiny microneedles are creating physical perforations in the skin, there is a 1-2 day period after the treatment when the skin is more sensitive than usual. During this time, patients should use a gentle cleanser, gentle moisturizer and no makeup. After around 48 hours, the tiny perforations close and you can transition back to a more normal skin care regimen as tolerated.
