Restlyane®
What are Restylane® dermal fillers?
Restylane® products are a large portfolio of anti-aging dermal fillers for softening wrinkles and plumping lips, cheeks and other areas of the face for a more youthful look. All Restylane® products are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a plumping agent that naturally occurs in your skin and connective tissue. We are dedicated to enhancing our patient’s natural beauty and use a conservative treatment approach to achieve long-lasting, flattering results.
Restylane® can be applied in many ways tailored to the individual patient:
- Correcting downturned corners and marionette lines around the mouth
- Smoothing and filling in deep nasolabial folds
- Plumping lips and filling in vertical lip lines
- Adding volume and roundness to cheeks and hollow areas of the face
- Can be used in combination with other treatments
- Non-surgical alternative to lasers and face lifts
- FDA Approved to help correct wrinkles and add volume
Restylane® Lyft & Restylane® Contour
Restylane® Lyft and Restylane® Contour are ideal for restoring fullness and definition to the cheeks and other parts of the face. As we grow older the fat in our face declines. As our cheeks become leaner and the overlying skin loses support, wrinkles and sagging skin begin to appear and the face begins to look hollow. Restylane® Lyft and Contour last about a year when used in the cheeks.
Restylane® Kysse & Restylane® Silk
Restylane® Kysse and Silk are commonly used for plumping the lips and smoothing out vertical wrinkles around the mouth. Thinning lips are another sign of aging, and as the lips lose their shape and volume the skin around the mouth can become deeply etched with wrinkles. Our skilled professionals apply this treatment with good clinical judgement to achieve natural looking results and prevent unsightly “duck lips”.
Restylane® Refyne & Restylane® Defyne
Restylane® Refyne & Defyne are specialized injectables ideal for filling in the nasolabial folds and “smile” lines while preserving your natural facial expressions and movement. They contain a flexible hyaluronic acid filler which uses XpresHAn Technology, which acts like memory foam that moves and molds to your natural facial motion. This results in a younger, smoother appearance while preserving your face’s unique visual character.
Do the injections hurt?
To make our clients comfortable during skin treatments, we use a potent topical numbing agent to numb the skin prior to the injections. The Restylane® products also have lidocaine in the syringe with the filler agent. Tissue under the surface of the skin becomes numbed as the injections are being done. Most people are surprised at how comfortable the treatments are.
How long does the filling effect last?
Are there specific instructions to follow around the time of my treatment?
To minimize bruising you should avoid taking the following medications for at least 7 days prior to your injections:
Any type of anti-inflammatory medication – including Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aleve, any type of Omega-3 supplements such as fish oil/flax seed oil and Vitamin E. Tylenol does not contribute to bruising and is safe to use prior to your injections.
We also recommend Arnica to help prevent bruising, which may cut your healing time in half if used properly along with your treatment. Start taking Arnica pills 2-3 days before your treatment. After treatment, continue taking the Arnica pills and use an Arnica topical cream until any bruising is gone.
Arnica can be purchased in oral pill and topical gel or cream form – we recommend you use both. T-Relief is a specific brand we prefer as the dosing frequency is easier to comply with. Take one pill 3 times daily – allowing the tablet to dissolve in your mouth rather than swallowing it whole.
We will send you home with an ice pack. We recommend that you ice the treatment area off and on for at least the first 24-48 hours. This will reduce swelling and bruising – especially the eye area and the lips.
Be aware that the lips are particularly prone to swelling after treatment. This usually resolves in about 48 hours. If you are prone to cold sores, an oral antiviral medication may be prescribed for you.
We also offer prednisone to be taken after lip injections to help reduce the inflammatory response and swelling that most patients experience.
